I was all excited, I had the planning done, the GPS was charged, the plane was reserved, but I never took off.

To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. I didn’t cancel the flight due to anything with the aircraft, no passenger got sick, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.

So why didn’t I go? Passengers. The flight was to take my Mom and stepdad to Lambert’s in Sikeston, MO. About a 45-minute flight. The weather was clear, the visibility was great; however, wind was 290 at 15 gusting to 26. At 6,000 there was a 41 knot crosswind for our course. Now, I have no doubt that I could have put the Warrior down on the runway in Sikeston wit almost a dead 90-degree crosswind.

Despite that, I didn’t go. My mother hates flying, and it’s all she can do to get in a plane with me, but I wasn’t about to take her up for a rough ride all the way down and then all the way home. It just wouldn’t have been smart.

Remember what they say, “It’s better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.”

Sometimes You Don’t Go
